Drum heads

Just as a rule of thumb... If you play your drums on an average scale, you need to replace the heads more than once every four to six years. I see way to many repairs that come through my shop that still have the Logo heads on a drum kit that is four or more years old. Old heads loose their resiliance and degrade over time. You are playing with diminished sustain and resonance. Your lesson to learn- CHANGE YOUR HEADS! As a suggestion, with heavy daily playing; change the batter every six months, change the res once a year. For those of you recording, do it more often. And don't be afraid to experiment with different heads. That's why they're out there. You may find some random head that you really love.
